Veteran forward Cam Reid signs with Fuel for 2017-18

Veteran forward Cam Reid signs with Fuel for 2017-18

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indy Fuel, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks and the AHL's Rockford IceHogs, announced Thursday that they have signed veteran forward Cam Reid to a 2017-18 ECHL contract. Reid comes to Indianapolis with five years and 286 games of professional experience, spanning the AHL, ECHL, Central Hockey League (CHL) and Germany.

Reid, 25, began the 2016-17 season in the German Second Division, playing 20 games with the Ravensburg Towerstars and Heilbronner Falken before joining the ECHL's Utah Grizzlies in mid-December. In 36 games with Utah, the 6-foot-3, 207-pound center recorded eight goals and 21 assists. Hailing from Delta, British Columbia, Reid has produced at nearly a point per game at the ECHL level, tallying 144 points (53g, 91a) in 164 total contests with the Grizzlies, Reading Royals and Cincinnati Cyclones. His best offensive season came in 2014-15, when he put up 59 points (25g, 34a) in 59 games with Reading, earning ECHL All-Star honors in the process.

“We're excited to have Cam join our team,” Fuel Head Coach and VP of Hockey Operations Bernie John said. “His impressive track record alone is enough to show what caliber of player he is. He is a playmaker with a great touch around the net which should greatly complement the kind of team we are trying to build for this season.”

After playing half a season with the Western Hockey League's (WHL) Portland Winterhawks in 2011-12, Reid made his pro debut with Cincinnati in the fall of 2012. The rookie earned a quick promotion to the AHL, scoring three goals and 16 assists in 54 games with the Milwaukee Admirals. A seventh round draft pick of the Nashville Predators (No. 192 overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Reid has marked 27 points (6g, 21a) in 86 AHL games split between Milwaukee, Peoria, Lake Erie, Bridgeport, Adirondack, Lehigh Valley, Utica and Hershey.

The Fuel's 2017-18 roster currently stands at eight players under contract, consisting of six forwards and two defenseman. View the entire roster by clicking here.
