INDIANAPOLIS - The Indy Fuel, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks and the AHL's Rockford IceHogs, announced Thursday that they have signed defenseman Troy Vance and forward Reed Seckel for the 2017-18 season. Both players have previous experience with the Fuel; Vance arrived in Indianapolis last spring while Seckel was with the team to begin the 2015-16 season.
Vance, 24, tallied one goal and one assist in 15 games with the Fuel following a March trade from the Cincinnati Cyclones. The 6-foot-5, 205-pound blueliner from Goshen, N.Y. chipped in four points (1g, 3a) in 38 games with the Cyclones to begin 2017-18. A fourth-year professional, Vance has compiled 19 points (6g, 13a) over 118 career ECHL contests with Indy, Cincinnati, Missouri, Idaho and Elmira, in addition to 19 points (3g, 16a) in the Finnish SM-Liiga with Ässät during the 2015-16 campaign. A fifth-round selection of the Dallas Stars in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft (No. 135 overall), Vance spent parts of four seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, tallying 84 points (17g, 64a) in 206 total games.
Seckel, 28, recorded 17 points (6g, 11a) in 50 games last season, split between Missouri and Elmira. Entering his third pro season, the 5-foot-10, 183-pound forward has seen action in 121 total games with the Jackals, Mavericks and Fuel, collecting 40 points (14g, 26a) and 143 penalty minutes. Hailing from Melvin, Mich., Seckel made Indy's opening night roster in 2015-16, chipping in an assist in 15 games before heading to Missouri in a trade. The product of Northern Michigan University was a two-time USHL All-Star during a two-year stint with the Green Bay Gamblers from 2008 to 2010, helping Green Bay to a Clark Cup title in 2010.
