Fuel announce 2017 training camp roster, schedule

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indy Fuel, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks and the AHL's Rockford IceHogs, announced Thursday the roster and schedule for their 2017 training camp, set to begin Friday at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.

The Fuel take the ice for their first official practice Friday, in preparation for a preseason doubleheader against the Fort Wayne Komets on Oct. 6-7. Indy will host the Komets at Indiana Farmers Coliseum on Oct. 6 at 6:30 p.m. ET, before traveling to Fort Wayne for the rematch on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. ET.

All tickets for the exhibition game in Indianapolis are just $10, and will go on sale Friday, Sept. 29 at 10 a.m. ET. Fans can purchase their tickets by visiting Ticketmaster or the Indiana Farmers Coliseum box office.

All training camp practice sessions will be held at either Indiana Farmers Coliseum or Pop Weaver Youth Pavilion and are open to the public, unless otherwise noted.

The Fuel invite 27 players to camp, including 19 whom are currently under contract for the 2017-18 season. Indy's camp roster consists of 15 forwards, 10 defensemen and 2 goalies. Attending camp on a tryout basis are forwards Austin Hervey, Ryan Siiro, Joseph Widmar and Will Smith, defensemen Andrew Darrigo and Brandon Rumble, and goaltenders Étienne Marcoux and Tyler Green. Widmar and Smith earned camp invites from their participation in the Indy Fuel Free Agent Camp back in August.

Additionally, the Fuel have a total of eight players that are attending training camps with AHL teams. Geoff Walker, Cam Reid, Matt Rupert, Ryan Rupert, Zach Miskovic, Nolan Descoteaux and Garrett Clarke all are skating with the Rockford IceHogs, while Travis Armstrong received a tryout offer with the Toronto Marlies. These players will all report to the Fuel at the conclusion of their tryouts, while additional players will be assigned to Indy from Rockford as the AHL preseason progresses.
