Étienne Marcoux signs PTO with AHL Laval

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indy Fuel, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks and the AHL's Rockford IceHogs announced Friday that goaltender Étienne Marcoux has been signed to a professional tryout with the AHL's Laval Rocket. Additionally, the Fuel have named forward Michael Neal team captain for the 2017-18 season.

Marcoux, 24, saw action in all three of Indy's games last weekend, posting a 0-1-0-1 record while stopping 87 of 96 shots faced. The rookie netminder from Laval, Quebec made 44 saves Friday in his Fuel debut, helping his team to a point in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Quad City Mallards. A two-year product of the University of New Brunswick, Marcoux ranks third among all ECHL goaltenders with a .935 save percentage.

Neal, 28, becomes the third player to wear the “C” in Fuel franchise history. The ninth-year professional joined the Fuel as a free agent last February, tallying 11 goals and 12 assists in 21 games down the stretch. A native of Whitby, Ontario, Neal has played 424 career ECHL contests for Indy, Wichita, Kalamazoo, Cincinnati, Las Vegas, Bakersfield, Orlando and Idaho since his rookie season in 2009-10, collecting a total of 206 points (85g, 121a) and 251 penalty minutes.

Defenseman Zach Miskovic and forward Cam Reid will continue to serve as the Fuel's alternate captains. Indy begins a two-game set against the Quad City Mallards Saturday night at TaxSlayer Center, before returning to Indiana Farmers Coliseum Tuesday, Nov. 14 to take on the Toledo Walleye.
