INDIANAPOLIS - The Indy Fuel, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks and the AHL's Rockford IceHogs, announced Tuesday that they have acquired forward Darian Dziurzynski from the Rapid City Rush in exchange for future considerations.
Dziurzynski, 26, has five points (1g, 4a) and 54 penalty minutes in 18 ECHL games this season split between Rapid City and the Toledo Walleye. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound forward started the season in Slovakia, where he marked an assist during a five-game stint with HKM Zvolen before returning to North America. Last season Dziurzynski led the EIHL's Manchester Storm in point scoring, finishing over a point-per-game pace with 29 goals and 23 assists in 52 contests.
The native of Lloydminster, Alberta brings five seasons and over 300 games of professional experience to the Fuel lineup, though his ECHL veteran status will not kick in until next season. A fifth-round selection of the Arizona Coyotes in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft (No. 141 Overall), Dziurzynksi compiled 44 points (27g, 17a) in 184 AHL games with the Portland Pirates and Binghamton Senators, in addition to 45 points (25g, 20a) in 79 career ECHL contests.
The Fuel complete a pre-Christmas homestand with two games at Indiana Farmers Coliseum this week. Indy hosts the Kalamazoo Wings Wednesday night, before welcoming the Cincinnati Cyclones Saturday for the club's last game before the ECHL holiday break.
