INDIANAPOLIS - The Indy Fuel, proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Chicago Blackhawks and the American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs, announced Tuesday that they have signed forward Mathew Thompson to an ECHL contract for the 2018-19 season.
McInnis, 28, accumulated 36 points (20g, 16a) in 64 games last season split between the Fuel and the South Carolina Stingrays, his 20 goals setting a new career high mark. In 57 games with Indy after being claimed off of waivers in late November, the 6-foot-2, 211-pound forward tallied 18 goals and 16 assists, while adding five power play goals. A leader in the locker room and one of the Fuel's most dependable two-way forwards on the ice in 2017-18, McInnis never went more than three games without registering a point over the course of the season.
Over four seasons in the ECHL, McInnis has skated in 250 total games with six different teams, posting 67 goals and 77 assists. The Boston native made his professional debut at the end of the 2013-14 season, when he appeared in two games for the AHL's Lake Erie Monsters following collegiate career at Minnesota State University, Mankato. While with the Mavericks, McInnis recorded 79 points (43g, 36a) in 133 NCAA contests, leading his team in goal scoring as a senior.
Dufour, 25, was acquired via trade on June 13 from the Wichita Thunder, fulfilling the future considerations owed to the Fuel from the December trade that sent Nick Bligh to the Thunder. In 69 games as a rookie split between Wichita and the Brampton Beast last season, Dufour posted 19 goals and 21 assists. The 6-foot, 195-pound forward from Quebec City, Quebec made his professional debut at the end of the 2016-17 season, appearing in nine games for the South Carolina Stingrays, tallying three goals and four assists.
Prior to becoming a professional, Dufour spent four years with Bowling Green State University, where he compiled 54 goals and 33 assists in 154 career NCAA games. As a senior in 2016-17, Dufour led the Falcons with 18 goals.
With the addition of McInnis and Dufour, the Fuel now have four forwards under contract for the 2018-19 season. To view the full roster, click here.
