Rookie forward Demico Hannoun joins Fuel preseason roster

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indy Fuel, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks and the AHL's Rockford IceHogs, announced Tuesday that they have signed rookie forward Demico Hannoun to an ECHL contract for the 2018-19 season.

Hannoun, 22, looks to make his professional debut with the Fuel after spending the last two seasons at Northern Michigan University. The 5-foot-11, 201-pound forward skated in 29 games as a sophomore in 2017-18, picking up two goals, four assists and 32 penalty minutes. In 44 career NCAA contests with the Wildcats, Hannoun recorded three goals and 11 assists, along with 40 penalty minutes and a plus-6 rating.

Prior to his time at college, Hannoun played five seasons in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL), tallying 177 points (78g, 99a) in 228 games spent with the Penticton Vees, Vernon Vipers and Surrey Eagles. The native of North Delta, British Columbia was part of a pair of championship teams over the course of his BCHL career, helping Surrey to the title in 2013 before leading Penticton in postseason scoring en route to winning the 2015 championship.

With Hannoun's signing, the Fuel have a total of 14 players on their 2018-19 preseason roster, consisting of eight forwards, five defensemen and one goaltender. For a full roster, click here.
