INDIANAPOLIS - The Indy Fuel, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks and the AHL's Rockford IceHogs, announced Thursday that they have signed forward Brian Morgan to an ECHL contract. In a separate transaction, forward Radovan Bondra has been recalled to Rockford.
Morgan, 24, signed with the Reading Royals in the offseason, appearing in one game to start the 2018-19 campaign. The 6-foot, 194-pound forward saw action in 42 games for the Royals last season while on loan from the Southern Professional Hockey League's Pensacola Ice Flyers, recording nine goals and nine assists alongside a plus-13 rating. A second-year pro from Windham, N.H., Morgan posted six goals and six assists in 16 SPHL contests with Pensacola before heading to Reading in December.
Prior to his rookie season, Morgan collected a collegiate career-high 14 points (7g, 7a) in 2016-17 as a senior with the University of Connecticut. Before that, the forward spent three seasons with the University of Maine, amassing 32 points (17g, 15a) in 103 games. No stranger to playing in Central Indiana, Morgan played 36 games with the USHL's Indiana Ice in 2012-13.
Bondra, 21, picked up his first goal of the season in Tuesday's loss to the Idaho Steelheads. The second-year forward scored one goal in 11 games with the Fuel in 2017-18, before an injury shortened his rookie season. A native of Trebisov, Slovakia, Bondra skated in five AHL games with Rockford at the end of the 2016-17 campaign.
