PNC Bank Community Spotlight - October

This season the Fuel are proud to be teaming up with PNC Bank to help make a difference around Central Indiana. Each month, we'll take a closer look at what the Fuel organization has been up to away from the rink in our Community Spotlight.

Fuel Owner and Chairman Jim Hallett presented the Boys & Girls Clubs of Indianapolis with a new 60-passenger bus, which will be used to enrich the lives of the 7,000 children who frequent the 10 locations around Indianapolis each year. In addition, the Fuel announced a new ticket donation program which will be in effect for the team's 2018-19 season. Any season ticket plan holder may choose to donate any unused tickets to BGCI, which will utilize the new bus to transport the children to and from Indiana Farmers Coliseum.

This offseason the Fuel teamed up with the CBS4 Reads program, geared to promote literacy and reading in the Indianapolis area. This October, Fuel players and CBS4 personalities Frank Wickens, Star Derry and more have visited Towne Meadow Elementary School and Ernie Pyle Elementary to share their passion for reading.

The Fuel are dedicated to fostering youth hockey in Central Indiana. Several players hit the ice to join Junior Fuel players at their practices to show them some tips and tricks!

The Fuel teamed up with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana (BBBSCI) in presenting the "Zero To 60 Challenge", a joint effort to recruit 60 adult male volunteers in 4 weeks while raising awareness of the importance of mentoring. BBSCI and the Fuel exceeded their goal, with 65 members signing up to get involved.

The Fuel are proud to be a part of the Riley Children's Health Sports Legends Experience at The Children's Museum of Indianapolis. On October 17th players Olivier Labelle, Robert Powers, Alex Brooks, Conor Moynihan, Radovan Bondra and Jason Pawloski visited the Indy Fuel Hockey Experience to speak about the history of the Fuel, thier experience as a player and help the kids through some drills and skills.

Fuel Captain Zach Miskovic and Alternate Captain Josh Shalla showed off their cooking skills in the 21st Annual Children's Bureau Celebrity Cook-Off raising money for the Children's Shelter of Central Indiana.
