WORCESTER, MA - The Indy Fuel (8-11-0-0) picked up their second win of the weekend on the final game of a three game road trip over the Worcester Railers (5-12-0-1). The Fuel grabbed four points and brought the teams overall total to 16 points in 19 games.
The Fuel scored first for the second night in a row on a stellar setup from Dylan McLaughlin who passed it from behind his back to Nathan Noel in front of the crease who deflected it to Mat Thompson to pop it over goaltender Evan Buitenhuis's shoulder to make it 1-0 with 8:40 in the first. The Fuel are (8-3-0-0) when scoring first.
With less than an a minute to go in the first Bobby MacIntyre scooped up a turnover in the offensive zone to tap in an easy short-handed goal to bring the score to 2-0 heading into the locker room.
Jordan Samuels-Thomas had a breakaway chance at 6:39 in the second period but was dragged down before he was able to get off a chance - forcing a penalty shot that he converted on to give the Railers their first of the game. The Fuel followed up ten minutes later when Dylan McLaughlin snuck the puck underneath Buitenhuis's pads to give Indy their largest lead of the night at 3-1. Bo Brauer rocketed a shot from the far side at 18:04 for the Railers second and final score of the night.
Micheal Doherty wrapped up the night redirecting a cross pass from Craig Wyszomirski tapping it in the right side of the night to bring the final score to 4-2.
Charles Williams stopped 28 of 30 shots while Buitenhuis stopped 26 of the 30 he faced.
The Fuel couldn't connect on the power play but were perfect on the penalty kill.
The Fuel head home to Indianapolis after playing three games in four days on the East Coast. The Fuel will take on the Cincinnati Cyclones next Tuesday at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum for a 7:05 pm puck drop.
