ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT PRESENTED BY MARIAN UNIVERSITY INDIANAPOLIS - MATT TOMKINS
After four years in net for the Ohio State Buckeyes, Matt Tomkins began his career in Indianapolis on an AHL contract for the Rockford Ice Hogs. In the 2018-19 season, Tomkins was named the MVP for the Fuel compiling season records in wins (29), games played (54), and minutes played (3,221). While on the Fuel, Tomkins produced a 3.17 GAA, .907 SV%, and 2 shutouts finishing with a 40-28-4-3 record during his tenure in Indy.
This season, Tomkins has spent the entirety of his time in Rockford after splitting time between the ECHL and AHL. Throughout the course of the year, Tomkins has been in goal for 10 games with a 2.91 GAA, .906 SV%, with a 5-5-0-0 record. On January 23rd 2020, Tomkins signed a two year, two way contract, with the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks through the 2020-21 season.
