KALAMAZOO, MI - Playing their second of three games in three days, the Indy Fuel visited the Kalamazoo Wings on Saturday night. Scoring back to back goals in the first period, both teams finished the first period tied. Indy would score three goals in the second and third periods, taking home a 4-2 win over the Wings.
Scoring the first goal of the game, Indy took advantage of their first power play of the game. A cross ice pass by Alex Krushelnyski saw Ryan Van Stralen fire a one-timer past former Fuel goaltender Jake Hildebrand. Kalamazoo would respond with a wrist shot from Justin Kovacs, tying the game at one goal each.
Taking their second lead of the game, Indy's Ryan Van Stralen would pounce on a Wings turnover and force a rebound that would end up on the stick of Michael Doherty, who put it in the back of the net.
Handing Indy a 3-1 lead in the third period, Bobby MacIntyre got alone in the Kalamazoo defensive zone and beat Jake Hildebrand with a wrist shot. After back to back coincidental penalties for each team, Kalamazoo's Mitch Eliot weaved through the Fuel defense and threw a wrist shot at the net, beating Charles Williams. Michael Doherty would put home the empty net goal with one minute remaining in the third to cement the 4-2 win over the Wings on Saturday night.
