Wednesday Night Matchup Features a Visit to Kalamazoo

WEDNESDAY WINGS: In their first of four games this week, the Indy Fuel will visit the Kalamazoo Wings on Wednesday night for their eighth of nine matchups this season. Indy enters Wednesday's game having split last weekend with the Wheeling Nailers and Toledo Walleye. Kalamazoo has lost three out of their last four games entering Wednesday, most recently falling 5-1 to Toledo on Sunday.

THE MATCHUP: Facing the Wings seven times so far this season, the Fuel have earned a record of 4-2-0-1. Falling 1-0 in a shootout to the Wings on February 28, Indy will be looking to win their fourth straight game at the Wings Event Center. Dropping three out of their last four games to Central Division opponents, a win for Kalamazoo on Wednesday would put them three points ahead of the Wheeling Nailers in the division.

POINTS LEADERS: In the last game between the two teams at Wings Event Center, Indy forward Derian Plouffe put up a four-point night, scoring two goals and two assists, including the overtime winner. Plouffe leads the team against the Wings through seven games with seven points. Tied with Plouffe at seven points, team leader Spencer Watson has four goals and three assists through seven games against the Wings. Tallying 30 goals and 28 assists through 53 games this season, Watson has had a career year this season. Leading the Wings through 48 games, Justin Taylor has earned 20 goals and 19 assists. Although only scoring one goal in seven games against the Fuel this season, Taylor has four goals and one assist in his last five games.

POWER PLAY SPECIALISTS: Indy enters Wednesday night in sixth in the ECHL in power-play percentage and second on the road. Scoring on 23% of their power plays on the road, the Fuel are behind the Fort Wayne Komets for the top spot in the league in road power-play percentage. The Wings penalty kill comes into Wednesday night with the worst penalty-killing percentage in the league. Killing off only 76.1% of their penalties this season and 75.8% at home, the Wings are last in the ECHL in both categories.

LOOKING AHEAD: After facing Kalamazoo on Wednesday, the Fuel will return home to host the Wichita Thunder on Friday, March 13th where Fuel fans will have the chance to meet Jay Jackson, AKA Perd Hapley from Parks and Recreation during the annual Netflix Night.
