This season the Fuel are proud to be teaming up with PNC Bank to help make a difference around Central Indiana. Each month, we'll take a closer look at what the Fuel organization has been up to away from the rink in our Community Spotlight.
With the COVID-19 Pandemic going on, the Fuel hasn’t had the chance to get out into the community throughout the summer months. For this month’s Community Spotlight, we are looking back at one of our favorite moments from this past season.
The Indy Fuel host several theme nights throughout each season but this past season's DC Super Hero Night had a few extra special guests. On November 22nd, the Indiana Farmers Coliseum turned into Gotham City as the Fuel donned Batman-themed jerseys and took on the Wheeling Nailers who sported The Joker jerseys. Keeping a watchful eye on the game was the Caped Crusader himself, Batman.
Before Saturday’s game Batman took time out of his busy schedule of fighting bad guys to visit Community Hospital’s Pediatric unit where he met patients of all ages and made sure to thank the nurses that care for them every day.
After visiting Community Hospital, Batman returned to Indiana Farmers Coliseum to meet a very special person who’s biggest wish was to meet Batman. The Fuel learned of Jakarr through the Make A Wish Foundation and invited him to the game where he would get to meet his favorite superhero and help him announce the starting lineup to the team before the game.
Although the Indy Fuel’s 2019-20 season was cut short due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, we continue to look forward to when players and coaches are able to get back out into our communities and make a difference. Whether it is our mascot Nitro, players, coaches or staff, getting out into the community and making us all one big hockey family is one of the largest priorities of the Indy Fuel organization.
