This season the Fuel are proud to be teaming up with PNC Bank to help make a difference around Central Indiana. Each month, we'll take a closer look at what the Fuel organization has been up to away from the rink in our Community Spotlight.
This month, The Indy Fuel partnered with Shepherd Community to deliver Thanksgiving meal supplies to Indianapolis families in need. Shepherd Community is a faith-based, inner-city ministry that has operated on the near Eastside of Indianapolis since 1985. Serving near the Eastside of Indianapolis, Shepherd is helping to break the cycle of poverty through a unitic and holistic approach called Continuum of Care. It is designed to help families overcome the challenges they may be facing in all areas: physical, emotional, spiritual, and academic.
In their third and final event for the Hat Trick for Humanity, the Fuel organization and mascot Nitro drove around Indianapolis delivering meals to families who would struggle to provide for themselves. Along with delivering food to the families’ homes Nitro and the Fuel staff helped to pack boxes of food to provide to families who were able to pick up the food in their own cars.
The Fuel are looking forward to starting their season on December 11th after an extended time off due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We continue to look forward to when players and coaches can get back out into our communities and make a difference. Whether it is our mascot Nitro, players, coaches or our staff, getting out into the community and making us all one big hockey family is one of the largest priorities of the Indy Fuel organization.
