Opening the 2021 calendar year with a dramatic overtime win over Wheeling, Indy shifts their attention to back-to-back home games with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits. Greenville enters Friday’s matchup having lost 5-4 in overtime to the Wheeling Nailers on Wednesday night while Indy is looking to earn back to back wins. Friday’s game will be the first time the two teams have seen each other this season.

LAST TIME OUT
The Indy Fuel closed out three games in three days with the second half of back to back games against the Swamp Rabbits on March 1. Defeating the Swamp Rabbits the night before, the Fuel would struggle in their third straight game. Earning a 2-1 lead after the first period, Indy would only score one more goal in the second period, eventually being outscored by Greenville and falling 4-3 on Sunday afternoon.
GOOD OLD SAINT NIC
Scoring two goals in their Saturday night game against the Wheeling Nailers, Nic Pierog has scored a goal in his last three games. Entering Friday’s contest against the Swamp Rabbits, Pierog leads the Fuel in goals and is tied in points with Jared Thomas, Peter Krieger and Derek Barach. With the overtime winner on Saturday night against the Nailers, Pierog comes into Friday tied with Peter Krieger with two game-winning goals each.
ONE GOAL WONDERS
The Indy Fuel have played seven games this season with all seven games ending as a one-goal difference. With four contests going past regulation, the Fuel are 4-0 when going to overtime or a shootout. Helping the team to five out of the Fuel’s six wins, Dan Bakala has led the Fuel to all four wins that have gone past regulation and has registered a 2.59 goals-against average and a .892 save percentage in those four games.
