LAST TIME OUT
In a rematch of Friday night’s overtime thriller, the Fuel hosted the Fort Wayne Komets for the second of three straight games on Saturday night. Responding to their overtime loss on Friday night, the Komets put eight goals on the Fuel on Saturday, tying a Fuel record for most goals allowed at Indiana Farmers Coliseum.
BOUNCING BACK
Saturday’s game against the Komets was the first time Indy has lost a game by more than two goals since February 5 against the Rapid City Rush. Through 26 games this season, the Fuel have only lost back-to-back games one time, falling to Wheeling on January 31 and Rapid City on February 5. “We obviously have a need to have a response today,” said Doug Christiansen “At the end of the day, I don’t want to make too much out of one game… We need to make sure we play our best hockey, we focus on the things that we do well in terms of skating and making plays off the rush and our special needless to say have to be better. When we do that, we’re a really good team and I expect us to be a really good team today.”
PLAY SMART
Facing the Komets on Sunday afternoon, Indy will be playing their eighth game in 12 days. The Fuel have played four games in five days in back-to-back weeks, creating a very tired lineup. Going into this week’s fourth game in five days Doug Christiansen discussed how important it is to fight through everything and execute the game plan. “Today, both teams are going to have to fight through it. There’s going to a fatigue element for both sides. There’s no question about it. Last weekend we did a really good job with it, we need to do a good job again this weekend.”
