Indy Begins Week with Contest Against Wheeling

Playing their fourth game in five days, the Indy Fuel host the Greenville Swamp Rabbits for a Sunday afternoon matchup at Indiana Farmers Coliseum. The Swamp Rabbits and Fuel have split the weekend series so far with each team winning in regulation. Sunday’s game will be the final game of a three in three for both teams.

LAST TIME OUT

After defeating the Nailers 2-1 in overtime on Wednesday, February 10 the Fuel visited the Nailers on Sunday, February 14 for the second of two meetings between Indy and Wheeling. The Fuel would earn three power-play goals from Mike Lee, Joe Sullivan and Tim Shoup to help lift them to a 6-1 victory over the Nailers in WesBanco Arena on Valentine’s Day afternoon.  

POWER PLAY EXPERTS

Entering Wednesday’s game against Wheeling, the Fuel have scored 10 power-play goals in their last six games. Through three games against the Greenville Swamp Rabbits this weekend, the Fuel power play went 5-for-16, keeping them in 2nd in the ECHL in power-play percentage. With three more home games this upcoming weekend, the Fuel are 4th in the ECHL in home power-play percentage (21.3). 

BRICK WALLS

Earning the Fuel’s first two shutouts of the season Dan Bakala and Billy Christopoulos broke a Fuel franchise record by recording back-to-back shutouts. Employing one of the best goaltending duos in the ECHL, Indy’s Billy Christopoulos is currently 2nd in the league in goals-against average while his partner Dan Bakala leads the league in wins.
