In the first game of four games in five days, the Indy Fuel hosted the Fort Wayne Komets on Wednesday, February 18. Indy would take a 2-1 lead into the locker room after the first period, seeing goals from Nic Pierog and Matt Marcinew. Doubling their lead in the second period, Pierog and Dylan Malmquist would each pick up a goal, eventually earning the Fuel a 4-1 win over the Komets.
THREE OF A KIND
Entering Friday’s game against the Komets, the Fuel have scored four goals in each of their last three games. Putting together a 7-1 record in their last eight games, Indy have scored four or more goals in six of their last seven wins. Sitting in third on the team in points, Indy’s Michael McNicholas has led the Fuel in the past four games, registering two goals and five assists.
GOALTENDING TANDEM
Coming into Wednesday’s game against the Nailers, Indy’s shutout streak sat at 128:30. Stopping 36 of 37 shots during Wednesday night’s contest Dan Bakala extended the shutout streak to 187:09. Sitting atop the league standings, Dan Bakala has earned a save percentage of .931 while Billy Christopoulos has registered a .924 percentage. Both goaltenders have split their time this season, putting Bakala atop the ECHL win column and Christopoulos in 1st in the league in goals-against average.
