This season the Fuel are proud to be teaming up with PNC Bank to help make a difference around Central Indiana. Each month, we'll take a closer look at what the Fuel organization has been up to away from the rink in our Community Spotlight.
This February, the Fuel partnered with the Headway Foundation, an organization that aims to spread concussion awareness by taking a peer-to-peer approach to keep athletes in the game for the long-term. They also provide resources to those who have experienced sports-related concussions at all levels.
As part of the partnership, the Indy Fuel and Junior Fuel youth organization worked with Fuel forward Nic Pierog and the Headway Foundation to raise awareness for concussions. To help support Headway and concussion awareness, the Fuel will be donating money to the foundation as well as wore Headway stickers on their helmets during the February 5th and 6th games at Indiana Farmers Coliseum.
In celebration of March Madness coming to Indianapolis, the Fuel and mascot Nitro visited Bankers Life Arena to join other Indianapolis teams to promote the beginning of the NCAA Basketball tournament.
The Fuel also joined up with the Indianapolis Children’s Museum to celebrate the opening of the Riley Sports Legend Experience. Throughout the day Fuel staff chatted with fans who came to visit the Fuel tent and mascot Nitro. Nitro also participated in a free throw contest with the Colts Mascot Blue and Indianapolis Indians mascot Rowdie. Â
The seventh season of Indy Fuel hockey is officially underway. The Indy Fuel are committed to getting back out into our communities and make a difference in the community that supports us every game. Whether it is our mascot Nitro, players, coaches or our staff, getting out into the community and making us all one big hockey family is one of the largest priorities of the Indy Fuel organization.
