LAST TIME OUT

The Indy Fuel wrapped up their four-game road trip in a one-goal loss to the Jacksonville Icemen on November 20, 2019. Mat Thompson gave the Fuel their lone point of the game in the second period but Icemen goaltender Adam Carlson stopped 34 of 35 of the Fuel's shots to hold the Fuel to just one goal and earn the eventual win.

PELECH’S HELPERS

Picking up an assist on Friday night, Michael Pelech is one assist away from tying third place on the ECHL’s all-time assist list. Through 17 games with the Fuel this season, the veteran center has tallied six goals and seven assists.

GENERATING CHANCES

Prior to Friday’s game against Wheeling, Assistant Coach Andy Contois spoke about putting more shots on the net to generate more scoring chances. Indy’s 37 shots on Friday was the largest amount of shots the Fuel have had this season. Giving up the first goal of the game four minutes into the second period, Contois spoke about coming out to play early. “Our guys have got to buy into starting every period the right way and starting on time if you will. When we get rolling and we’re good, we’re hard to contain.”

BRILLIANT BAKS

Playing the majority of the games for the Fuel this season, Dan Bakala has cemented himself as one of the league’s top goaltenders. The Calgary, AB native has stopped over 30 shots in his last two games earning one win and one loss. Through 23 games this season Bakala has earned 15 wins, putting him in second place in the ECHL.
