Playing their first game out of a three-game week, the Fuel hosted their I-69 rival Fort Wayne Komets on Wednesday, March 31st. Indy would go into the third period leading 3-2 thanks to goals from Matt Marcinew, Michael Pelech and Matt Thomas but it wouldn’t be enough after the Komets came back in the third to defeat Indy 6-3.
NEW NAMES AND NEW FACES
Playing his first game in a Fuel uniform on Wednesday, forward Brent Gates finished the night with a goal, two shots and a plus-1 rating. Prior to being acquired by the Fuel, Gates played 31 games for the Tulsa Oilers tallying six goals and 12 assists.
HOT WATTY
Entering Friday night, forward Spencer Watson has points in back-to-back games. In his last five games for the Fuel, Watson has registered one goal and four assists. Playing alongside Diego Cuglietta and Brent Gates on Wednesday night, Watson finished with assists on both of Indy’s goals and a plus-2 rating.
SEEKING RECORDS
Michael Pelech is still searching for his one assists to tie 3rd place on the ECHL’s all-time assist list. Through 19 games with the Fuel this season, the veteran center has tallied six goals and seven assists.
