LAST TIME OUT
Playing their first of four games, the Indy Fuel hosted the South Carolina Stingrays on Wednesday, April 7. The Stingrays would take the lead in the second period thanks to a goal from Mark Cooper. Indy’s Spencer Watson sprung Brent Gates on a breakaway in the third period and he beat Stingrays goaltender Alex Dubeau over the shoulder to tie the game late in the third period. Scoring the game-winning goal in overtime, Nick Hutchison handed the Fuel a 2-1 win.Â
MAKING A PUSH
Thanks to a forfeit by the Fort Wayne Komets on Monday, Indy has points in four out of their last six games. Scoring five goals on the Komets on Saturday night, the Fuel took home their first win over their rival since April 10. Facing an East Division opponent on Tuesday and Wednesday, taking points will be crucial to the team’s playoff push.Â
DO THE MATH
Coming into this week’s matchups, Indy sits in third place in the East Division. With Greenville defeating the Orlando Solar Bears in regulation on Monday, they extended their lead over the Fuel to two games. With Orlando falling in regulation on Monday, Indy has a two game cushion when facing the Stingrays this weekend. Two-midweek wins could put them ahead of the Swamp Rabbits heading into the weekend.Â
