After falling in overtime to the South Carolina Stingrays on Wednesday night, the Indy Fuel visits their I-69 rival Fort Wayne Komets on Sunday night to close out the week. Thanks to a forfeit by the Komets last Tuesday, Indy has wins in back-to-back games against the Komets. Fort Wayne enters Sunday looking to get back on the winning track after losing three out of their last five games.

LAST TIME OUT
Closing out their two-game series with the Fort Wayne Komets on Saturday, May 8 the Indy Fuel faced their I-69 rival for the third straight time. Both teams would trade goals throughout the game until Indy’s Jordan Schneider beat Trevor Gorsuch to give Indy a 5-4 win.
TAKING THE LEAD
Scoring two goals in Wednesday’s loss, Nic Pierog has strung together a four-game point streak. Since returning from injury on April 23, the third-year forward has registered three goals and nine assists, tying him for the team lead in points with 41. Pierog’s production is evidence of his willingness to not only shoot the puck but go to the front of the net. “What I like about Nic Pierog is he scored a goal (Saturday) night three feet in front of the net,” said Head Coach Doug Christiansen. “When he does that, on top of his shooting ability, he can really inspire our team. That’s what we really need.”
PLAYOFF PICTURE
With an overtime loss on Wednesday, Indy sits in third place in the East Division. The Greenville Swamp Rabbits are currently ahead of the Fuel with a .607 win percentage. A win against the Komets will keep the Fuel three wins ahead of the Solar Bears for third place in the division. A loss will put the Fuel less than a win ahead of Orlando.
