INDY FUEL WEEK 23 RESULTS: 1-1-1-0, 31-21-6-0 Overall

Tuesday, May 11 - Fuel 1 at South Carolina 3:

Opening up the week with two games against the Stingrays, the Indy Fuel visited the North Charleston Coliseum for the first time this season. Indy’s Jared Thomas would score the first goal of the game from a pass from Nic Pierog before the Stingrays tied it up less than 20 seconds later.  South Carolina would score a goal in both the second and third periods to eventually take the 3-1 win over the Fuel.  

Wednesday, May 12 - Fuel 4 at South Carolina 5 OT:

After a strong performance from the Fuel throughout the first two periods, the South Carolina Stingrays would make a three goal comeback in the third period to force overtime and eventually take the game 5-4 at the North Charleston Coliseum Wednesday night. 

Sunday, May 16 - Fuel 1 at Fort Wayne 0:

Playing their only game of the weekend, the Fuel visited their I-69 rival Fort Wayne Komets on Sunday night. Kameron Kielly would score the only goal of the game and Sean Romeo would stop 33 shots to send Indy home with a 1-0 win in their final game at Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.

Wednesday, May 19 - Fuel at Rapid City (9:05 p.m. ET, Rushmore Plaza Civic Center)

Friday, May 21 - Fuel at Rapid City (9:05 p.m. ET, Rushmore Plaza Civic Center)

Saturday, May 22 - Fuel at Rapid City (9:05 p.m. ET, Rushmore Plaza Civic Center)

Sunday, May 23 - Fuel at Rapid City (6:05 p.m. ET, Rushmore Plaza Civic Center)

ON THE ROAD AGAIN

Indy will begin a four-game road trip to Rapid City on Wednesday, continuing the longest road swing of the season. Having played five straight games on the road, the Fuel have strung together a record of 2-2-1-0. The Fuel will face the Rush four times at Rushmore Plaza Civic Center before closing out their road swing with a game at Wheeling on May 26. 

CRUNCH TIME

Entering week 24 Indy sits in third place in the East Division with a .579 win percentage. Picking up a win on Sunday held the Fuel 1.5 games ahead of the Orlando Solar Bears who dropped two out of their three games last week. Playing four straight games against a West Division opponent this week, Indy needs to pick up wins to keep pace with their East Division opponents.

OIL DROPS:

  • Jared Thomas has two goals and four assists in his last four games
  • Nic Pierog snapped a four game point streak (2g, 4a) on Sunday
  • Sean Romeo earned his second career shutout on Sunday night
    • Romeo has earned wins in back to back starts
  • Matt Marcinew and Josh Dickinson returned to the Fuel lineup after going on the commissioner’s exempt list
  • Dan Bakala is 4th in the league in wins (17)
    • Bakala is tied for second in the league in losses (12)
  • Kameron Kielly is 2nd among rookies in the ECHL in GWGs
  • Willie Raskob is 5th in the ECHL in points among defensemen (32)
    • Raskob is second in goals among defensemen (12)

  • Entering Wednesday’s contest, Indy has points in three out of their last four games
  • Sunday was Indy’s 4th shutout of the season
    • Tied for second most in a season in franchise history
  • Counting Indy’s forfeit win, the Fuel have won three straight games against Fort Wayne
  • Sunday was Indy’s final game at Fort Wayne, they finished with a 4-2-2 record
  • The Fuel begins a four game road trip in Rapid City on Wednesday
    • Indy has earned a 1-1-0-0 record against the Rush
  • Indy is 19-5-5-0 when scoring first
  • The Fuel are 16-2-2-0 when leading after the first period
