LAST TIME OUT
Playing their first playoff game since 2018, the Indy Fuel hosted the Greenville Swamp Rabbits in game one of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Greenville would score two unanswered goals and Ryan Bednard would stop 37 shots to take game one in the best-of-five series.
OUTSTANDING GOALTENDING
Tuesday night’s contest was a battle between two outstanding goaltenders. Although giving up two goals, Billy Christopoulos stopped 20 of 22 shots faced. Playing his first career playoff game on Tuesday, Ryan Bednard proved why he is signed to an NHL contract. The 24-year-old goaltender faced and stopped all 37 shots by the Fuel on Tuesday, earning his first playoff shutout.
SPEED GAME
Tuesday’s game was one of the fastest-paced games Indy has played all season. Being hard on the transition and using speed to beat opposing teams is something Head Coach Doug Christiansen has been grooming his team for all season. “It’s two fast teams,” said Christiansen in Tuesday’s post-game. “It’s two teams that are working their tail off and two teams that know what’s at stake. We’re excited and confident but now we’ve got to make sure we find another gear.”
