Community Spotlight July

This season the Fuel are proud to be teaming up with PNC Bank to help make a difference around Central Indiana. Each month, we'll take a closer look at what the Fuel organization has been up to away from the rink in our Community Spotlight.

To kickoff the month of July, the Indy Fuel celebrated Independence Day at the Carmel Fest Parade. Nitro rode in style, sitting on top of the vehicle as he waved to fans and even honked at fans by kicking the horn! The Fuel also handed out candy to fans along the parade route.

The Indy Fuel also attended the Child Advocates School Supplies Drive Thru. Foster families were able to pick up free backpacks filled with school supplies including, notebooks, folders, pencils, pens, calculators, and more at the drive thru. Nitro entertained passengers in their cars as they waited in line and he waved the sign around at the entrance to welcome families in!

The Fuel also partnered with the Indiana State Museum for Canal Nights! Mascot Nitro became Superhero Nitro for the night as everyone discovered their superpower and engaged in numerous games and activities at the Indiana State Museum Terrace on the Canal for superhero night. The Fuel also set up their booth with a prize wheel and slap shot inflatable.

Fuel players Mike Lee and Seamus Malone paid a special visit to the Little Red Door, a cancer agency committed to make the most of life and the least of cancer for those of all ages. Campers got to take pictures with the Fuel players and get their autographs. Lee and Malone also spent time playing hockey with campers as they got the chance to pass, shoot, and even score on them! Then Fuel players got to help and learn how to plant flowers.

To finish up the month, Nitro made a guest appearance at the Crew Carwash in Avon for the Crew For Kids Fundraiser benefitting Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Central Indiana. Nitro was on site welcoming and visiting with fans for the 12th annual fundraiser supporting BBBS.
