Coming off of a massive 6-0 win on Saturday night, the Fuel turns their sights to the Toledo Walleye on Wednesday night. Toledo enters Wednesday’s contest having scored 15 goals in their last two games while Indy is looking for their first home win of the season.

The last time the two teams met was March 6, 2020. Chase Marchand went up against Billy Christopoulos in goal but Christopoulos would stand strong, stopping 39 of 41 shots. The Fuel would see goals from Alex Rauter, Bobby MacIntyre and Spencer Watson but it wouldn’t be enough as the Walleye earned the 3-2 win.
PLAYING A FULL 60
Earning a 6-0 win over the Cincinnati Cyclones on Saturday, Doug Christiansen stressed the importance of playing a full 60 minutes. Scoring five goals in the third period, Christiansen like what he saw in the third period. “I thought the conditioning paid off. Obviously, to get those goals late feel great,” said Christiansen. “Happy for [Mitch Gillam] to get the shutout, it was a good road win. Now we come back home looking for our first win at home.”

Seeing six goals from five different players on Saturday, the Fuel have three players with two goals in their first two games. Brent Gates and Cedric Lacroix have both scored goals in each of the team’s first two games while Spencer Watson picked up a pair of his own in Saturday’s contest.
ROOKIE SCORING
Saturday saw two rookies score their first goals in a Fuel uniform. Riley McKay scored his first professional goal while Liam Folkes scored his first ECHL goal.
ON THE BOARD EARLY
Mitch Gillam picked up the Fuel’s first shutout on Saturday stopping 25 shots from Cincinnati. Gillam is one of two goalies in the league who have yet to allow a goal.
