In the first of five straight road contests, the Indy Fuel visited the Wheeling Nailers on Sunday, November 7th. The Fuel would take a 2-0 lead into the locker room after the first period, but five straight Wheeling goals would hand the Nailers a 5-2 win at WesBanco Arena.Â
GOALTENDING DEPTH
Coming into Friday night’s game, the Fuel have two shutouts through their first 10 games. Stopping 27 shots by Fort Wayne on Wednesday, Cale Morris earned Indy’s second shutout of the year and his first in his professional career.Â
KILLING PENALTIES
Although they were unable to score on their own man-advantages, the Fuel killed off all four penalties on Wednesday night. In their last two games, Indy has killed off 8-of-9 penalties taken.Â
DEFENSE GETTING INVOLVED
Entering Friday’s contest, Mike Lee sits in third place in assists by ECHL defenseman. The second-year defenseman has skated in all nine of Indy’s games this season and has tallied one goal and six assists. Scoring on Friday, Cliff Watson is one of six defensemen who have earned goals this season for the Fuel.Â
HOME COOKING
Four out of Indy’s next six games will be played at Indiana Farmers Coliseum. Entering Friday night, the Fuel have a 2-2-0-0 record on home ice.Â
