INDY FUEL WEEK 2 RESULTS: 1-0-0-0, 1-1-0-0 Overall

Saturday, October 30 - Fuel 6 at Cincinnati 0:

An electric third period and impeccable goaltending was the name of the game as the Indy Fuel got revenge for their home opener loss to Cincinnati last week by storming past the Cincinnati Cyclones to win 6-0 in Cincinnati’s 2021-22 home opener. Riley McKay notched his first pro goal to make it 3-0 in the third period and was very quickly followed by three more equal strength goals from Liam Folkes, Brent Gates and Cedric Lacroix. 

INDY FUEL WEEK 3 SCHEDULE: 

Wednesday, November 3 - Fuel vs Toledo (7:00 p.m. ET, Indiana Farmers Coliseum)

Friday, November 5 - Fuel vs Iowa (7:00 p.m. ET, Indiana Farmers Coliseum)

Sunday, November 7 - Fuel at Wheeling (4:10 p.m. ET, WesBanco Arena)

GOING ON THE ROAD

After opening up the 2021-22 campaign at Indiana Farmers Coliseum, the Fuel headed to Heritage Bank Center to visit the Cincinnati Cyclones. After scoring one goal through the first two periods, the Fuel exploded with five goals by five different players in the third period.  

THREE-WAY TIE

Entering Wednesday’s game against the Toledo Walleye, there are three players atop the Fuel scoring chart. Scoring a goal in each of Indy’s first two games, Cedric Lacroix and Brent Gates are tied with Spencer Watson who tallied two goals in Saturday’s road contest. 

OIL DROPS:

  • Spencer Watson scored his first two goals of the season on Saturday
  • Riley McKay scored his first pro goal on Saturday
  • With 17 penalty minutes on Saturday, Jordan Schneider leads the league in PIMs
  • Mitch Gillam earned his 9th career shutout on Saturday
  • Liam Folkes scored his first goal in a Fuel uniform Saturday night
    • Folkes played his first regular-season game on Saturday 
  • Brent Gates and Cedric Lacroix each have two goals in Indy’s first two games
  • Mike Lee leads the team in assists (3)
  • Kirill Chaika picked up his first fighting major of the season

Team Notes

  • Gillam’s shutout on Saturday was Indy’s first of the season
  • Through their first two games, the Fuel are 2-for-9 on the power play
    • Indy is 11th in the league in power-play percentage
  • The Fuel are one of three team’s remaining with a 100% power play percentage
