LAST TIME OUT
In the second game of a five-game road swing, the Fuel visited Cincinnati Cyclones on November 9. Both teams would trade goals throughout the game, sending it to overtime and eventually a shootout. Cincinnati’s Dominic Franco would be the only person to score in the shootout handing the Cyclones the 3-2 win.
EARNING IT
Coming off of a win on Wednesday, the Fuel are looking for their first back-to-back wins since November 17. Indy will not have their points leader Chad Yetman on Saturday after he was called up by their AHL affiliate. Prior to their 4-1 win over the Komets, the Fuel lost back-to-back one-goal games. Doug Christiansen believes his team is doing all of the right things to win games. “Guys have been working hard,” said Christiansen. “They’re committed. They want to dig hard into the corners and go to net fronts.”
THOMAS’ TOUCH
Jared Thomas enters Saturday night on a five-game point streak. Assisting on Indy’s third goal on Wednesday, Thomas has a goal and five assists in his last five games. The fourth-year pro has played in 12 games this season totaling one goal and seven assists.
GOING STREAKING
Coming into Saturday, Mike Lee leads the entire Fuel team in assists. The second-year pro sits in third place among ECHL defensemen having tallied three goals and 11 assists in 16 games with the Fuel. Lee’s 11 helpers put him in second place among ECHL defensemen in assists.
ROAD RECORD
The Fuel begins a four-game road swing on Saturday night against the Cyclones. Having played eight out of their 16 games on the road, the Fuel have put together a record of 1-5-1-1.
