Fuel Face Toledo in Winterfest Showdown

Playing their third game of the week, the Fuel travel to Toledo to play the first outdoor game in franchise history. Indy is coming off of a loss to the Norfolk Admirals on Wednesday while the Walleye are looking to continue a four-game point streak.

LAST TIME OUT

In the first of two games on Thanksgiving weekend, the Fuel traveled to Toledo for a Friday night contest. After no goals in the first period, both teams combined for six goals in the second and third periods sending the game to overtime where Toledo would take the 4-3 win.

SCORING SEAMUS

Entering Friday night, Seamus Malone has picked up two goals and two assists in his last three games. The third year pro has played in 23 games for the Fuel this season tallying six goals, 10 assists. Scoring on the power play on Tuesday night, Malone is in second place on the Fuel in power play goals with five. 

NEW FACES

Due to the NHL taxi squad rules, the Fuel have lost eight players to the American Hockey League. Receiving two players from the IceHogs on Thursday, the Fuel also signed former captain Craig Wyszomirski as well as acquired defenseman Brycen Martin from Maine. Both players will bolster the Fuel defense heading into Friday night. 

TREMENDOUS TRIO

The line of Jan Mandat, Spencer Watson and Jared Thomas has averaged a goal per game throughout the last three games. The trio combined for two goals and five assists in Indy’s 4-0 win over the Admirals on Tuesday night. Although only playing seven games this season, Mandat leads the team in scoring chances per game, earning 1.43 chances per game. His linemate Spencer Watson is currently averaging 1.21 chances per game. 

SPECIAL TEAMS FIRING

Although they didn’t score on Wednesday night against the Admirals, the Fuel are currently 7th in the ECHL in power play percentage. Through their last three games, the Fuel’s first power play line is averaging 3.5 shots per power play and two goals per game. Leading the team in power play goals, Darien Craighead has picked up six goals in 28 games this season.
