In the fourth meeting of the season, the Indy Fuel visited the Fort Wayne Komets on December 26. Indy saw four goals from Jan Mandat, Griff Jeszka, Keoni Texeira and Jared Thomas but it wouldn’t be enough as the Komets scored six goals on Michael Lackey to earn the win.
JAN’S NUMBERS
Tallying two goals and an assist over the weekend, Jan Mandat has registered five points in his last three games. Since joining the Fuel in early December, Mandat has earned five goals and nine assists. Playing alongside Darien Craighead and Seamus Malone over the weekend, the trio combined for four goals and three assists in two games.
SCORING EXPLOSION
Winning three straight games for the first time this season, the Fuel have outscored their opponents 14-4. Through their last six games, the team has registered 22 goals and given up 14. Leading the scoring charge, Seamus Malone and Spencer Watson have earned nine goals in their last six games.
EXCELLENT EICK
Tallying goals in his last three games, CJ Eick is riding a five-game point streak. Eick has tallied three goals and two assists in his last five contests. Appearing in 27 games this season, Eick has earned six goals and five assists.
GREAT GILLY
Starting on Friday night, Mitch Gillam stopped 25 of 26 shots he faced from the Nailers. Gillam has started three out of the last four games for the Fuel and has only allowed three goals on 82 shots. Gillam’s game has also allowed the Fuel to earn points in three out of their last four games. Through 10 games this season, Gillam has registered a 3.28 goals-against average and a .892 save percentage.
GOAL SCORING
With 14 goals in their last three games, the Fuel have seen eight different players get on the scoresheet. Leading the way, Seamus Malone and CJ Eick each have three goals in the past three games. With 16 goals this season, Spencer Watson currently leads the team in goals. Scoring .57 goals per game this season, the fifth-year pro is one goal away from taking second place on the Fuel’s all-time goals list.
