Fuel Close Out Weekend in Toledo

After falling to the Cincinnati Cyclones on Saturday night, the Fuel travels to Toledo to close out four games in five days this week. Toledo is coming off a 7-2 loss to Wheeling on Saturday while the Fuel are looking to snap a three-game losing skid.

LAST TIME OUT

Playing the first of three games in three days, the Indy Fuel hosted the Toledo Walleye on Friday night. Giving up two goals in the first period to the Walleye, the Fuel would only score one goal throughout 60 minutes and eventually fall 3-1. 

STILL SEARCHING

The Fuel will head to Toledo on Sunday afternoon to face a Toledo Walleye team that has had their number this season. Earning a 0-4-1-0 record against the Walleye this season, the Fuel have been outscored by a total of 25-11. Indy will face a Walleye team on Sunday that has earned a 12-3-0-1 record when playing at the Huntington Center. 

NEEDING A WIN

Heading into Sunday night, the Fuel have lost three straight games by a combined score of 13-5. After rattling off eight wins to start the new year and putting themselves back into playoff contention, the Fuel have struggled to score recently.

SCORING FIRST

Entering Sunday’s contest, the Fuel are 13-5-2-1 when scoring the first goal of the game. On top of scoring the first goal of the game, the Fuel have a 9-1-0-1 when leading after the first period. If the team isn’t leading after the first period, the Fuel are 3-11-0-1. 

MAKING HISTORY

Scoring Indy’s only goal of the game on Saturday night, Indy’s Spencer Watson took sole possession of 2nd place on the Fuel’s all-time goals list. With 63 goals in 135 games for the Fuel, Watson is 17 goals behind Josh Shalla for 1st place. With 117 points over his three seasons with Indy, Watson is four points behind Matt Rupert for 2nd place on the Fuel’s all-time points list.
