Playing their second game in as many days, the Indy Fuel hosted the Iowa Heartlanders on Saturday night. Although heading into the first intermission trailing by a goal, the Fuel would score three goals throughout the game and eventually earn the 4-3 win in overtime thanks to a goal from Jared Thomas.

Earning a 4-3 win in overtime on Saturday night, the Indy Fuel have won five straight games and have put themselves back at a .500 win percentage. Although six points out of the final playoff spot, the Fuel are one point away from tying Wheeling for the fifth spot in the Central.

Starting the last five games, Mitch Gillam has helped the Fuel to five straight wins and only allowed nine goals on 127 shots. With a 1.77 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage in his last five starts, Gillam has helped the Fuel go from only 10 wins in regulation to a .500 record.

Scoring Saturday’s overtime winner, Jared Thomas has a goal and an assist in each of his last two games. Riding a five-game point streak, Thomas leads the Fuel in points having tallied eight goals and 22 assists in 28 games.

Having won their last five games, the Indy Fuel have outscored 22-9. With 22 goals in five games, Indy has seen 10 different players get on the score sheet. Leading the team in goals, Spencer Watson has scored 16 goals this season. His 16 goals put him two goals away from clinching second place on the Fuel’s all-time goals list.
