Playing the first game of the calendar year, the Fuel hosted the Iowa Heartlanders at Indiana Farmers Coliseum. After a scoreless first period, Indy saw four goals from CJ Eick, Spencer Watson and Seamus Malone (two) as they won 4-1 on Sunday, January 2.
STAYING ALIVE
Picking up their fourth straight win on Friday night, the Indy Fuel are six points out of the final playoff spot in the Central Division. Since January 2, the Fuel have defeated their opponents by a combined score of 18-6.
GREAT GILLY
Starting the last four games, Mitch Gillam has earned four straight wins and only allowed six goals on 108 shots. With a 1.50 goals-against average and a .946 save percentage in his last four starts, Gillam has been a massive help to Indy’s back end.Â
CJ’s CHARGE
Tallying an assist on Friday night, CJ Eick is one of four players on the Fuel roster with a scoring streak longer than three games. Through his last six games, Eick has earned three goals and three assists. Appearing in 28 games for the Fuel this season, Eick has earned six goals and six assists.Â
OFFENSIVE EXPLOSION
With four straight wins to start the new year, the Fuel have outscored their opponents 18-6. Indy’s 3.52 goals per game has put them in 6th place in the ECHL in that respective category. Having earned wins in five out of their last seven games, the Fuel have outscored their opponents 26-16. Leading the scoring charge, Seamus Malone and Spencer Watson have earned a combined nine goals in their last seven games.Â
