LAST TIME OUT
The last time Indy met the Wichita Thunder was the beginning of the 2020-21 season when Indy closed out a four-game road trip. A lone goal from Jared Thomas would not be enough for the Fuel as the Wichita Thunder stole the game in the third period and snapped the Fuel’s six-game win streak.
DEPTH SCORING
In their last four games, the Fuel have seen scoring from all over. Defenseman Brycen Martin scored in Orlando and new addition Bryan Lemos picked up his first tally as a member of the Fuel on Friday night. Scoring his 20th goal of the season, Spencer Watson currently leads the team in goals heading into Saturday.Â
NEEDING SPECIAL TEAMS
The Fuel enters Saturday’s game having scored on two out of their last 16 power plays. Facing a Wichita team that is flying high on the man advantage, the Fuel will need to limit their penalties on Saturday night. In their last five games, the Thunder have gone 6-for-18 on the power play while the Fuel have averaged 7.4 penalties per game in their last five contests.
GRABBING THE LEAD
Coming into Saturday night, the Fuel are 17-7-2-1 when scoring the first goal of the game. Tallying the first goal of the game on Thursday, the Fuel held on to a 2-goal lead and eventually beat Kalamazoo 2-1. Friday, however, the Fuel trailed after the first period and eventually fell 6-2. When trailing after the first period, the Fuel have struggled to come back to grab a win, earning a 3-15-0-1 record.
