Fuel Host Cyclones in Final Game of the Weekend

After winning back-to-back games, the Indy Fuel fell to the Kalamazoo Wings on Friday night by a score of 3-2. Hosting the Cincinnati Cyclones on Saturday night, it will be the first home game since February 2. The Cyclones enter Saturday’s contest having lost four straight while Indy is looking to earn points in three out of their last four games.

LAST TIME OUT

Playing their second game in as many days, the Fuel visited the Cincinnati Cyclones at Heritage Bank Center on February 29. After a scoreless first period, the Cyclones jumped out to a four-goal lead in the second period and eventually went on to defeat the Fuel 5-1. 

MIGHTY MCKAY

Picking up a goal in Friday’s loss to Kalamazoo, Riley McKay is riding a four-game point streak head into Saturday night. Earning three goals and one assist in his last four games, McKay helped the Fuel snap a six-game losing streak and earn two wins in their last three contests. 

WATTY KEEPS GOING

Tallying an assist on Friday night, Spencer Watson has tied Matt Rupert for second place on the Fuel’s all-time points list. Skating in 141 games for the Fuel, Watson has tallied 121 points, putting him 32 points from first place. 

CLIMBING TO THE TOP

Scoring one of Indy’s two goals on Friday, Seamus Malone has picked up two goals and two assists in his last three games. With 12 goals and 18 assists in 42 games this season, Malone continues to climb the Fuel point standings. 

JUMPING OUT FIRST 

Entering Saturday night, the Fuel are 10-3-0-1 when leading after the first period. On top of that, Indy is 15-7-2-1 when scoring the first goal of the game. Getting out to an early lead does wonders for a Fuel team that is fighting to get back into the playoff picture. 

THE NEXT LEVEL

Former Fuel forward Brent Gates tallied his first multi-goal game at the AHL level on Friday night when he scored two goals against the San Jose Barracuda. After signing with the San Diego Gulls in early January, Gates has appeared in 15 games tallying 10 points (4g, 6a).
