After picking up a shutout win over the Toledo Walleye on Sunday afternoon, the Fuel head to Fort Wayne on Wednesday night to face their I-69 rival Fort Wayne Komets. Indy recently snapped a six-game losing streak while the Komets has points in three out of their last four games.

Playing the first of three straight games on the weekend, the Fuel traveled to Fort Wayne for the second time this season. Scoring three straight goals in the first period, the Fuel would hang on to their lead for the remainder of the game to eventually earn a 4-2 win on Friday night.
NEW FACES
Over the last two weeks, Doug Christiansen has been busy tooling with his lineup. Since then he has added goaltender Justin Kapelmaster and Joe Widmar via trades. Kapelmaster comes to Indy from Jacksonville where he earned a 1.76 goals-against average and a .942 save percentage in five games played. Along with Kapelmaster, Widmar comes to the Fuel after playing 39 games for the Iowa Heartlanders, tallying seven goals and 23 assists.
GRABBING THE LEAD
Entering Week 17 of the ECHL season, the Fuel are 14-6-2-1 when scoring the first goal of the game. When jumping out to the early lead and holding on to it into the first intermission, the Fuel have given themselves a massive chance to win games this season, registering a 10-2-0-1 record. Holding on to a lead when going into the second intermission, the Fuel’s shut-down defense has earned them a 16-1-0-1 record.
BREAKING RECORDS
Stopping 28 shots on Sunday night, Michael Lackey earned his second shutout of the season and the Fuel team’s fifth of the year. With five shutouts this season, this Fuel team has tied the franchise record for shutouts in the season originally set in 2019-20 by Dan Bakala, Charles Williams and Chase Marchand.
