Playing their third game in as many days, the Fuel hosted the Cincinnati Cyclones on Sunday, March 20 for an afternoon matchup. With Seamus Malone and Chad Yetman scoring two goals in :18 seconds in the second period, the Fuel would eventually go on to win 4-1 in their final game of the weekend.
MIGHTY MANDAT
Picking up his 14th goal of the season on Sunday night, Jan Mandat enters this week’s games on a five-game point streak. The Czechia native has tallied a goal and five assists in his last five games played. Tallying .83 scoring chances per game this season, Mandat has put himself in 6th on the Fuel’s points list by tallying 14 goals and 22 assists in 41 games.
CHASING HISTORY
Tallying a goal in three out of his last five games, Spencer Watson is tied for 3rd place in the ECHL in goals with 28. Watson enters Week 24 of the ECHL season seven goals away from tying Josh Shalla for first place on the Fuel’s all-time goals list. Shalla sits atop the list with 80 goals in 159 games and behind him, Watson has tallied 73 goals in 158 games. Watson is also 18 points behind Shalla for first place on the all-time points list.
OLD FRIENDS
Wednesday’s contest will be the 12th time the Fuel have faced the Cyclones this season. Through the first 11 games, Indy has put together a 5-5-0-1 record. Skating in 10 out of the 11 games, Jared Thomas enters Wednesday night with five goals and six assists against the Cyclones this season. Picking up 10 points of his own in 11 games against the Cyclones, Seamus Malone has the second-most points when facing the Central Division rival.
