Fuel and Walleye Meet for Final Time This Season

In the 10th and final meeting of the season, the Indy Fuel host the Toledo Walleye on Wednesday night. Indy is coming off of a 6-2 win over the Iowa Heartlanders on Saturday while the Walleye have a chance to win the Brabham Cup for the first time since 2017.

LAST TIME OUT

Playing their second game in as many days, the Fuel traveled to Toledo on April 2nd to face their Central Division opponent for the ninth time this season. Indy would trail twice in the game before eventually falling 4-3 on Saturday night.

JUMPING OUT EARLY

Entering Wednesday’s game, the Fuel are 15-3-0-1 when leading after the first period and 25-1-0-1 when leading after the second period. However, indy is 5-21-0-1 when trailing after the first 20 minutes. Similarly, the Fuel have scored the first goal of the game 35 times this season and have come away with a win 24 times. 

DAZZLING DARIEN

Playing in all three games last weekend, Darien Craighead walked away with three goals and three assists in three games. Leading the team in power play goals with 10, Craighead has registered eight goals on the man advantage since joining the Fuel in mid-December. Sitting atop the Fuel’s point standings, Craighead has tallied 26 goals and 28 assists in 67 games this season. 

PLAYING SPOILER

Facing a team that is fighting for the Brabham Cup, the Fuel have an opportunity to play spoiler in the final week of the season. Hosting the Cincinnati Cyclones for two games this weekend, the Fuel can knock the Cyclones out of the final playoff spot in the Central. A win for Kalamazoo on Wednesday will tie the Wings in points with the Cyclones for the final playoff spot in the Central Division. If the Fuel are able to take both wins this weekend and Kalamazoo defeats Toledo, they will bump the Cyclones out of the playoffs.
