LAST TIME OUT
Closing out four games in five nights on Sunday, April the Indy Fuel hosted the Iowa Heartlanders at Indiana Farmers Coliseum. Both teams would trade goals throughout the game until Indy exploded with four goals in the third period, earning them a 6-2 win.
SPECIAL TEAMS STRUGGLES
Facing their Central Division rival Iowa on Saturday night, the Fuel faces a team that they have struggled to capitalize against when on the man-advantage. Playing the Heartlanders seven times this season, the Fuel have earned a 4-3-0-0 record but have struggled to score on the power play. Scoring on only 1-of-24 power-play chances, Indy has been dominated by a stellar Iowa penalty kill. However, the Fuel have been just as efficient on their penalty kill, killing off 22-of-24 penalties.
MAGNIFICENT MANDAT
Tallying Indy’s only goal on Friday night, Jan Mandat registered his 16th goal of the season. The Czechia native has earned two goals and two assists in his last three games. Skating in 47 games for the Fuel this season, Mandat has 16 goals and 25 assists.
KRAZY KAP
Stopping 29 of 31 shots on Friday night, Justin Kapelmaster has earned a 3-5-0-1 record with the Fuel this season. Through 10 games in a Fuel uniform, the 2nd-year pro has a 2.49 goals against average and a .918 save percentage while earning two shutouts.
