LAST TIME OUTThe Fuel hosted the Cyclones at home last night in their first preseason matchup of the year. They lost to Cincinnati 4-1, their lone goal on the power play by Riley McKay. New goaltenders Mitchell Weeks and Conor O’Brien split the game, facing a collective 21 shots.

BRIGHT SPOTSDespite the loss, Indy has quite a few bright spots to look to from last night’s matchup. Chad Yetman, who ended last season on a hot streak, registered five shots on goal last night, the most of any player on the ice. Additionally, the Fuel had thirteen different players register more than one shot on goal, showcasing a ton of offensive depth. The Fuel also had eight shots registered by defensemen as opposed to Cincinnati’s four. While they weren’t able to capitalize on this depth, it shows a lot of promise for the offense that the Fuel tallied 37 shots in total.

MIGHTY MCKAYRiley McKay made waves on both sides of the stat sheet as he was the long goal scorer for the Fuel on the power play in the second period, after collecting a five minute major penalty for fighting Cincinnati’s Sean Allen. The goal was assisted by Texiera and Watson, who anchor the Fuel’s power play unit.
