INDIANAPOLIS- The Indy Fuel announced Thursday that defenseman Keoni Texeira will serve as the team's captain for the second season.
Texeira has played for the Fuel since 2019, serving as co-captain for the 2021-22 season. The 6-foot, 209-pound defenseman has skated in 173 games for the Indy Fuel, the third most in franchise history. In that time he has totaled 15 goals, 67 assists and 139 penalty minutes. He currently sits at 3rd place for franchise assists with 67 (record is 73) and 7th place for franchise points at 82 (record is 153). In 2021-22, he was tied for the team’s highest plus/minus at +18.
‘Tex,’ was also the Fuel front office’s nominee for the league’s Community Service Award last season after making a significant impact in the community and being a leader in Indianapolis.
Additionally, the Fuel have named four alternate captains in Jan Mandat, Seamus Malone, Chris Cameron and Riley McKay who are all second-year Fuel players that have positively impacted the team and community during their time with Indy.
