INDIANAPOLIS- After an electric night winning 7-5 over the Fort Wayne Komets at home, the Fuel make a quick turnaround to Kalamazoo for their second game and first road trip of the 2022-23 season.LAST TIME OUTThis is the first game of the season for the Wings. The last time these two teams met on April 5, the Wings took the win 5-2 over Indy. Last night, the Fuel hosted the Fort Wayne Komets in their home opener and claimed a win in a 7-5 matchup with 50 penalty minutes handed out across both teams.
HOT MANDATForward Jan Mandat started the season strong after a goal during preseason and two last night against Fort Wayne. He also recorded five shots on goal, which tied him with Chase Lang for the most of anyone in the game. He claimed first star of the night for Indy. With eight points in ten games against Kalamazoo last season, he will look to continue the hot streak.
COMEBACK KIDSThe Fuel have given up goals early in all three games so far this month, but managed to mount the comeback in their first regular season game. After giving up a goal early in the first, returner Alex Wideman got on the board, which was the kick that started the momentum for Indy, who ended up with seven goals on the night. “To be honest, sometimes getting scored on early really wakes you up,” Head Coach Duncan Dalmao said, in reference to falling behind so quickly last night.
