ABOUT THE HOCKEY:
INDIANAPOLIS- Coming off of a comeback win in Toledo, the Fuel will host the Wheeling Nailers for the first time this season. The Nailers are 5-6 on the year but 3-1 on the road and pose a new challenge for Indy.
LAST TIME OUT
These teams last met on April 8, 2022 where the Nailers beat the Fuel 2-1 at Indiana Farmers Coliseum. The lone goal in that game came from this year’s Fuel leading goal scorer, Jan Mandat.
TEAM WATSON
Before the game against Toledo, the Rockford IceHogs assigned former Fuel captain, Cliff Watson to Indy’s squad. He was immediately effective, having a goal and assist in Toledo, contributing to the win. This also brings the Fuel’s Watson total to three with both Spencer and Matt Watson on the roster as well. Only Spencer and Matt are related to each other.
SHINING DEFENSE
The Fuel’s defense has been responsible for 21 points through 11 games with all defensemen who have played at least two games, tallying at least one point. Players like Kirill Chaika and Chris Cameron who are not typically known as high scoring defensemen have been curating point streaks which is a big help for the Fuel who are without a handful of high scorers due to illness or injury right now.
