The Fuel will take the ice in Indianapolis Racers jerseys tonight. Those jerseys will be auctioned off live after the game with proceeds benefiting Indiana Donor Network Foundation’s Bryan Clauson Legacy Fund. Head to sections 100 and 200 immediately following the game to bid.

A very limited quantity of Racers jerseys and Racers pucks will be sold in The Garage tonight.

USAC Racing is joining us tonight with a car and drivers you can see and meet throughout the game!

PARKING: Parking at Indiana State Fairgrounds is $10. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to park due to anticipated large crowds at the Fairgrounds. Infield parking is not available at this time due to set up for the Christmas light show.TICKETS: Tickets for tonight’s game can be purchased at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum Box Office or online HERE. Kids two and under do not need a ticket as long as they sit on the lap of a ticketed patron. BAG POLICY: The Indy Fuel now follow the same bag policy as all Indiana State Fairgrounds events. All bags are subject to search upon entering the arena. All bags larger than 14” x 14” x 6” (backpacks, suitcases, duffel bags, etc.) are prohibited. Please plan accordingly to help facilitate a quick and efficient entry process. Please report suspicious bags to an Indiana Farmers Coliseum team member.PLEASE NOTE - Due to a pregame event in The Taproom, fans may not use that entrance to enter and it will be closed during the game.

ABOUT THE HOCKEY:

The Indy Fuel will face off against the Kalamazoo Wings for the second time this season in their second game of the weekend.

LAST TIME OUTThese teams last met on Saturday, October 22 in Kalamazoo. The Fuel came away victorious 5-3 after goals from Alex Wideman, two from Kale Howarth, Chase Lang and Spencer Watson, whose goal in the third period was the only equal strength goal from the Fuel that game. Wideman and Mitch Hoelscher also picked up three assists in the match.

HAVE YOURSELF A HATTYIn last night’s game versus the Iowa Heartlanders, Jan Mandat emerged the game’s first star after scoring his first ECHL hat trick. He scored a shorthanded goal in the first, an equal strength goal in the second and an empty-net goal in the third. The Fuel are now tied with the Newfoundland Growlers for most shorthanded goals at three.

MORE MILESTONE MAYHEMLast night Alex Wideman not only scored a goal last night, but his assist on Chad Yetman’s goal marked his place in Fuel history books as he tied Josh Shalla’s franchise record for assists at 73. He is one away from breaking that record. Wideman will play his 250th ECHL game tonight and Bryan Lemos will play his 200th.RACING BACK IN TIMETonight the Indy Fuel are racing back in time and taking the ice as the Indianapolis Racers. The Racers were a major league hockey team in the World Hockey Association (WHA) from 1974 to 1978  and played at Market Square Arena Indianapolis. They are often best known for being the first professional team to secure the services of Wayne Gretzky and Mark Messier. Fun fact: On this day in 1978, the Indianapolis Racers played at home in Indianapolis, where Messier made his professional hockey debut.

NONPROFIT OF THE GAME:

Project 44 was created in honor of the late Andrew Smith. Wearing the #44, Andrew was a beloved, standout member of Butler’s two-time NCAA Finals basketball team. Smith had received a bone marrow transplant in 2015. On January 12, 2016, at the age of 25, Andrew passed away following a two-year battle with cancer.

Committed to carrying out Andrew’s selfless work, Project 44’s initial goal was to save 44 lives. With a 1:430 ratio of registrants to matches,18,920 new registry members are needed. Now an incorporated 501(c)3 non-profit organization, Project 44’s enhanced broader mission is to save lives through bone marrow donation.

To date, Project 44 has added thousands to the registry, facilitated over 40 matches resulting in 10 stem-cell, life-saving transplants. To join the registry, text “Andrew” to 61474.
