INDIANAPOLIS- Tonight the Fuel kick off a four-game road trip traveling between Kansas and Oklahoma against the Wichita Thunder. This is the first and only time the Fuel will face Wichita this season, where they will look for their first win against them in two seasons. Indy will then travel to Tulsa, OK tomorrow where they will play three games in four days vs the Tulsa Oilers.
LAST TIME OUT
The last time these two teams met was February 26, 2022 where the Thunder defeated the Fuel 4-3 in regulation. That was the only time the two teams faced each other last season, and prior to that Indy lost two games to the Thunder in the 2020-21 season.
WELCOME TO WICHITA, WIDEMAN
Though it has been three seasons since Alex Wideman last faced the Wichita Thunder, he has had six points in seven career games against them. He is also currently tied with Jan Mandat and Chad Yetman for first on the Fuel in points this season with seventeen (10g, 7a).
This season so far, the Fuel have lost just one game when outshooting their opponent. On the flip side, they have lost five games when getting outshot. The correlation certainly isn’t a coincidence. Indy also has only lost one game when leading after the second period. High shots and taking a lead early seem to be the formula that has worked for the Fuel so far this season.
