ABOUT THE HOCKEY:
INDIANAPOLIS- The Fuel face off with the Cincinnati Cyclones for the fourth time this season after a postponement last week due to weather caused them to move their originally slated fourth meeting. The Fuel are still looking for their first win against the Cyclones this season despite being tied with them for first place in the Central division standings.
LAST TIME OUT
These teams met last week in Indy on Teddy Bear Toss night, where Matthew Barron scored first and fast for the Fuel, letting the teddy bear’s rain, but with a few quick goals by Cincinnati to follow, Indy could not make a comeback to take down the rivals. Ultimately, they fell 4-3 but not without a two-goal game by Chad Yetman who was named ECHL Player of the Week for his efforts.
STEADY YETI
Chad Yetman is coming into this game on a nine game point streak and a four game goal streak. He earned the ECHL’s Player of the Week award for his efforts during the week of December 19. He was called up to the AHL’s Cleveland Monsters for two games after winning that as well. He has been a huge impact on the Fuel this season, leading the team in points per game average and +/-.
MALONE MADNESS
Seamus Malone has been voted the Fuel’s representative for the 2023 ECHL All-Star Game taking place in Norfolk, Virginia on January 16, 2023. He has had a huge impact on the Fuel this season so far, tallying 24 points in 25 games and leading the team in power play goals with five. “The team is proud of him. As coaches, I think that’s why we do what we do, because we want to see good things happen to our players and no one is more deserving than him,” said assistant coach Kevin Moore on Malone’s nomination.
