INDIANAPOLIS- Coming off of a loss on Teddy Bear Toss night, the Fuel head to Fort Wayne to finish the weekend against their I-69 rivals and are hoping for a win to keep them ahead of Cincinnati in the standings before their meeting next week.

LAST TIME OUT

The last time these teams met was on Friday, December 9 when the Fort Wayne Komets visited Indy and after a back-and-forth match that never saw a lead greater than one, the Fuel took the win 5-4 in regulation. Prior to that, Fort Wayne defeated the Fuel once and Indy won against the Komets on opening night back in October. The Komets currently sit in fifth place in the division with 23 points.

YET AGAIN YETMAN

Despite an injury that sidelined forward Chad Yetman for five games, he is still on a seven-game point streak matching his best from earlier this season. He is second on the team in points, only to Alex Wideman who leads him by just one point in five more games played. Yetman leads the team in points per game with a 1.20 average. He is a huge key to success for the Fuel’s offense.

SPECIAL TEAMS STRUGGLES

Even though the Fuel lead the league in shorthanded goals and have had their fair share of power play goals, the Fuel have struggled on special teams, allowing four goals of their last eight goals against to come on either the power play or the penalty kill. The Fuel have had great success when neutralizing their opponent while not at even-strength this season and can certainly do it again. Indy wins and scores more when controlling the pace of play and making room to create more shot attempts, not forcing themselves into defensive situations on special teams.
